Job description

n! biomachines requires a new Production Scheduler responsible for ensuring best practice(s) in demand planning, inventory planning, production planning and supply planning. They will play a key role in the overall business growth and inventory reduction strategies. The Production Scheduler shall be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production and workers. The Production Scheduler shall ensure that production schedules are created and completed on time, and within budget and will also be responsible for ensuring workplace health and safety compliance for the organizations facilities, employees and assets.


Job Duties

  • Create, maintain, and ensure execution of the Production Schedule
  • Estimate materials and labour required for production
  • Co-ordinate activities with warehouse and production units
  • Co-ordinate traffic flow of supplies
  • Compile worksheets and specifications of orders
  • Prepare and maintain progress and other reports
  • Review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action.
  • Increase worker efficiency and production rates
  • Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget
  • Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Manage cycle count activities to ensure proper counts are conducted and the inventory is accurate.
  • Review demand and supply to understand bottleneck and propose alternative capacity or areas needing capacity improvement to meet demand.
  • Lead the Sales and Operating plan process that looks long term at matching capacity with demand, lead-time and delivery performance.
  • Participate in business planning meetings to plan out activities in future time periods.
  • Constantly look for improvements and help implement solutions.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of weekly, monthly and future capacity to optimize product level loading and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and high-volume months.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent education/experience
  • 3+ years experience as a production scheduler
  • Extensive knowledge of Mater Production Schedule (MPS)/Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Demand Flow, Forecasting, Inventory Planning and Supply Chain design.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Advanced ability to effectively problem-solve, communicate (orally and in writing), lead business discussions and train others.
  • Team player within multi-disciplined team.
  • Strong organizational skill set
  • Experience in cross functional team
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling software systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to maintain filing systems, databases, and basic diary/minutes management
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations and ordinances
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

Work Conditions

  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Production floor safety issues
